Golden Bee – Shoreditch

Golden Bee is set above the Shoreditch skyline, boasting a 1st Floor bar and club lounge with panoramic views over Old Street. Grapes Design overall idea behind the Golden Bee was to create a theatrically eclectic space with features such as crushed velvet drapes, neon lights and shocking accent colours.

The Main bar (alter like in appearance) with references to a “hive”, champagne gold accents, hexagonal mirror finished displays, floor to ceiling unique tiered bottle trees, allowing each individual bottle to be lit through LED. Flanked by electric blue drapes; copper chain mail. Golden screens separate the main bar from the “Club Lounge”, book matched wallpaper; decorative black acrylic CNC panels line the walls. Suede furniture with “gold” stitching all echo the same language.

Grapes Design also produced the first ever seen “Shot Glass” lighting system, collaborating with Universal fibre Optics. Darren says – “I’ve always wanted to pursue the idea of utilising glassware, shot Glasses lend themselves as a decorative shade, facets on the glass reflect; refract the light in a seductive manner when lit, perfect for a bar environment.”

Golden Bee takes its name from owner, Billie Chandler. “Darren has created a perfect destination bar lying within easy reach of the city, the terrace will rival any roof-top bar e.g. – The Boundary, Shoreditch House without the pretence or membership restrictions”. “The Bars sheer presents has already boasted many private hire events, and been used as a top location for film; music videos, a testimony to Grapes Design.”

“Its great to work with designers pushing the boundaries in unusual directions, the images show just how striking the tiles, along with the bespoke furniture and bar design are. Hopefully a visit to the Golden Bee will leave a very lasting impression,” says John Rose, Solus Ceramics Area Sales Manager.
